Meet Me on Monday

It's another edition of "Meet Me on Monday" where I take the questions from Java over at Never Growing Old and answer them on my blog. It was whirl wind week last week. I put in 2 applications for craft shows (awaiting to hear if we got in) and then heard about two more vendor opportunities. So, just counting my blessings and praying that everything works out. The work week ended with a trip to the doctor with my teenage son to find out he has double ear infections... This morning he doesn't want to get out of bed to go to school. He is officially late to school now. Just got to decide if we will take him to school when he decides to wake up or let him stay home. Since there are two adults in the house today... It's going to be easier to keep him in check anyway.

So, without further ado, here are my answers!!!

1.  What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
My engagement ring on my left hand and the ring that my grandpa gave to my grandma on their 25th wedding anniversary on the right. The wedding band is too small and needs to be re-sized (or I need to lose weight!). I don't wear necklaces because I had to stop when I was nursing babies and I haven't worn earrings in eons. I have fat fingers so lots of rings don't fit.... Go figure. Oh and my youngest daughter was born on my grandparent's anniversary, so even though I got the ring YEARS before she was born, it's very sentimental.

2.  Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
I twirl it! We only cut spaghetti up for really little ones. The five and three year old even twirl theirs. It's quite comical actually. We where on a spaghetti kick there for a while and had it once a week... When you find something that a kid likes, you gotta go with it... And pixie chipmunk LOVED spaghetti and meatballs.

3.  How many siblings do you have?
I have two brothers and a sister. Well, one brother passed away 10 years ago at the age of 18 (I think). We had pretty much just found each other again when it happened. But I still have my other brother and my sister. The family tries to meet every Sunday for dinner. My parents house becomes a zoo with all the people that are there, but they love it just as much as we love staying connected.

4.  Were you named after anyone?
My middle name is after my mom's best friend from high school. My mom and I argue over it's pronunciation though, lol. Yvonne She says the Y like in Yellow... I say it's more of an E sound.

5.  Coke or Pepsi?
Diet Coke actually. But most of that comes from the fact that my ex is a die hard Pepsi fan. lol

Meet Me on Monday

Yet again, it's that time of the week where I go over to Never Grow Old and get the weekly questions to be answered so that you, my loyal readers, will get to know me a little bit better... So with out further ado while I watch a high school favorite movie "Less than Zero".....

1.  Do you have a fireplace in your home?

Yes, I do! We don't use it much as we haven't been able to cut down some trees to make firewood, but I love a good fire when it gets really cold. Plus, that keeps the living areas warm and the bedroom a little chilly, which is great for sleeping :-)

2.  Can you drive a stick shift?
Yes, I can! I had a stick shift when I got out of high school and I loved it! Since I have had kids (or really got pregnant with my first child) I have had an automatic but I miss stick shifts every once in a while... That is something I hope to get once all the kiddies are grown some more.

3.  How many computers are in your home?
Umm, gotta count... three laptops and  two desktops. We used to have another laptop, but it's died, big time.

4.  Are your taxes done yet?  Do you do them yourself?
I do them, and nope, they are not done yet... I drag my feet to get them done anymore..... I need to work on that!

5.  What is your favorite meal of the day?
Any that I can actually eat? Actually, breakfast is usually the one that I love the most. I love to have breakfast for lunch or dinner too.

That's right folks, it's that time of the week again! Time for you to read my answers to the questions that are posted on Never Grow Old's Sunday post! Come on now, you know you are dying to know! lol

1.  What is your favorite way to eat potatoes?

French fried like at Chik-f-la or Arbys!!!!! I know, one is waffle and one is curly but both are FRENCH FRIES!!!! And totally not good for you (especially with Ketchup) but white or yellow potatoes, that's my favorite... But my favorite potato of all time is a sweet potato.... I always get it at Outback when we go and I LOVE to eat sweet potatoes over the holidays sliced up with loads of butter and brown sugar... Wonder why I have such a weight problem?????

2.  What was the last package that was delivered to your house?

To my HOUSE? Well, that had to have been a bit ago since all my package go to the post office... Oh, I remember now..... Teen son's broken iPod!!!!! He broke his sister's an hour or two after she got it on Christmas. So he got her broken one (he got one too) and we sent it off to see if they would fix it but he has to come up with the $100 to do that, so it came back home.

3.  What is your favorite scent that you love to smell?

Clean anything... House, car, yard (you know the clean grass cut) and especially clean BABY!

4.  Do you smoke?

Nope. I did for a few months (I know that I really can't count that) but since I create stuff, I can't fathom thinking that my creations would smell like smoke.. Not to mention the prices of cigarettes is scary.

5.  Are your parents married or divorced?

Trick question for me... Biologically, my parents are divorced. BUT my parents have been married for almost 28 years... See, my "step-dad" is who I call dad. Took his last name when I was 18 (like a few weeks before turning 19) and had my birth certificate changed too... So as far as I am concerned... my parents are still married but they both had practice marriages before that. lol

Meet Me On Monday - Feb 28th Edition

Back by popular demand, I found Never Grow Old's weekly questions this morning. I have to say that really missed doing questions last week. I hope to get better at posting on here on a regular basis... We shall see.....

1. What are you wearing right now?

Well, it's 5:47 am, so I am wearing a Tshirt, capri pants, no shoes..... I don't dress up to sit around the house sewing and creating, you know! Maybe I should though. Might help me feel more "human".

2. Do you have any freckles?

You betcha!!!! All over my body but I love the ones on my face the most. I have the raccoon line of them on my cheeks and over my nose... I think I used to be teased as a child because of them, but now they remind me of the happy times in the river or at the beach when I was a kid.

3. What is your favorite Lifesaver flavor?

I would have to say cherry flavored. It's red!!!!

4. What is the last movie you saw in the theater?

A few weeks ago, we took all the kids to see "Gnomeo and Juliet". It was actually quite good! Even though I took a little 10 minute power nap in the middle of it, lol. But it wasn't because the movie was boring (how could it, Elton John had his hands ALL in the movie!), just that I have energy problems :-)

5. Would you rather live without tv or without music?

WOW, that's a hard one... But I would say TV. There is always a song playing in my head and I love to have music playing low while I am working or in the car.... After the second set of kids came along, it's not been music in the car as much as videos playing!

Meet Me on Monday - 2011 Valentine Edition

Well, not only is it a Monday, but it's Valentine's Day as well. I have to say that I really do enjoy looking for the blog post from Never Grow Old on Sundays to see what questions are to be answered for Monday.

Today is even more special because I noticed on my blogger feed that I can answer ANOTHER set of questions, so stay tuned for those as well :)

1. Did you get any Valentine's Gifts?

Hubby and I do not really exchange gifts on Valentines. His second child with this first wife was born on Valentine's Day in 1995. So today, Evan would have been sweet 16. Hubby and family had four years with our angel before God took him back to heaven. Our two youngest children have never gotten to meet their other "big" brother. At any rate, February 14th is Evan's birthday more than a "love holiday". Hubby showers love on me all year long but I usually get some candy since I LOVE Valentine candy ;)

2. What is your favorite topping on something toasted?

I LOVE cream cheese on a bagel! Plain or strawberry flavored. On toast, I really like strawberry jelly or jam. With a little butter too ;)

3. Do you pick out your outfit the night before?

Heck no. But then again, I work at home and don't go out very often. Usually it's PJs or lounge wear most days. When we head to church, it's whatever I can find at the moment that fits. Even when I was teaching, it was look in the closet that morning and pull something out.

4. What food item do you absolutely despise?

Liver and green peas. I don't even really like to type the words out. Enough said.

5. Righty or lefty?

I am a creative lefty! Both of my grandfather's were leftys too. And I am not saying that rightys can't be creative, my mom and grandma are both creative and righties. Just saying that I am :)

Meet Me on Monday 2/7

I stumbled on the weekly questions for this series while reading a blog that I follow. Thought to myself "this would be a great idea!" and hunted to find out how she got her questions and viola! I found them..... Now on the questions.....

1. Did you watch the Superbowl?

Yes but mostly no. It came on while we were still over at my mom's, so I watched a few minutes of the pre-show with my dad but when we came home, we opted to watched the DVR of SNL last night.... Dana Carvey, what can I say? I take "Wayne and Garth" and "The Church Lady" over football any day :)

2. What is the last book that you read?

I started the first few chapters of Mitch Album's Have A Little Faith the other weekend while I was stuck in a hotel room while my teenage daughter was at a dance convention but I haven't finished it. I think the actual last book I was able to finish was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

3. What is your favorite kind of cake?

This is a tough one! I like cake really, but the older I get, the less I can tolerate my favorite part, the icing.... Carrot cake is up there. so is Tunnel of Fudge.... But then again, that yellow cake with buttercream frosting that we had today for hubby's birthday was good too. ;)

4. Do you snore?

I have to admit that when I am sick, yes, I do snore. Hubby tries to say that I don't. He does and I think his is louder than mine, but I do know that I can snore from time to time.

5. Do you play an instrument?

I wish! I self-taught myself how to play the keyboard when I was a teen. My teenage son does though... He played the violin for 2 years in elementary school, then moved on to the drums in middle school and started to learn guitar this year at church.

Meet Me on Monday 1/31

It's Monday, again, but thankfully, it's the last Monday of January! Tomorrow starts a new month :) This month has been hectic, of sorts, so I hope that February, in all it's shortness, is a little easier for me to go through.

That being said, here I sit in the delightful silence of the new morning (get it, no one else is up @ 7:48am in the house but ME) pondering what to answer on the five little questions that Never Grow Old has put before me! I am really enjoying getting these questions off her blog on Monday mornings..... So, without further ado......

1. What do you put on your hot dog?

Okay, in my house, hot dogs are a staple but not because I eat a whole lot of them.. Because my three-year old will take them out of the refrigerator and eat them not heated up! But in the summer at cookouts, I eat them with a little bit of ketchup, mustard and some relish if I can find it... If we go to Sonic (fast food drive up) I am known to eat a chili cheese coney from time to time.....


2. Do you play Sudoku?

I don't play it, but my husband and my mom do.


3. What is your favorite vegetable?

I would have to say... broccoli! In my salad, steamed, cooked in some spaghetti sauce with chicken and over noodles, or covered in cheese.

4. Do you color your hair?

Yes I do! I started off with highlights when I was in high school and by college it was full blown color. Did that for about 10 years and quit for several years... In the last year, I have gone back to coloring my hair. I have naturally dark hair and I love the look of dark blonde.

5. What is your favorite brand of clothing?

lol, I really don't have a favorite brand.... I just enjoy anything that looks good on my body and is comfortable! lol

Meet Me on Monday 1-23 Edition

Last weekend, I took the oldest child to a dance conference all weekend. Between that and last Monday being a holiday and everyone being home, it through me off and I didn't get to do last week, but I remembered this week!

So without further ado, here are the five questions for this week from Never Grow Old! I even remembered to post my linky on her's! ol

1. What is your favorite kind of fudge?

I would have to say..... Rocky Road fudge!!!! Guess it's kinda like my life? Always a Rocky Road somewhere in my life, never smooth sailing for long. But to be honest, I am not a big fudge in the first place.

2. Is there snow outside your window?

Thankfully today... No, there is no snow. But then again, I live on the coast of SC, so if there is snow on the ground, it's a BIG deal. I read on FB Saturday that it DID snow in town, but it wasn't when we went into town and it never snowed at our house... Ask this question again in a bout five years when we hope to be living in Colorado Springs and my answer very well could be different!

3. What is your favorite meal of the day?

Actually, I don't have a favorite meal... Funny due to my size though. I enjoy them all about the same but the one that I eat the most in a week is dinner. Breakfast? Well, unless it's a quick bowl of cereal (which we rarely have in the house due to young ones that like to carry it around the house and make a mess), I don't usually eat it. Well, maybe a bagel with a cup of coffee or a muffin (or two). Lunch is something quick weekdays and dinner is the one meal that the whole family comes together for..

4. Do you text on your cell phone?

I have two teenagers in the house, so the answer to this is a giant YES!!!!!! But I also test a friend, my mom and my husband.

5. Waffles or pancakes? I love both, but I have a special place in my heart for Belgian waffles! In fact, we bought a Belgian Waffle maker for Christmas this year and about once every two weeks, we seem to have them for dinner! Pretty easy dinner that is made fast and fills you up :)

Meet Me Monday....

I caught this on a blog that I follow and thought, "Hey what a great idea! I wonder how she gets her questions. Low and behold, she gets them from ANOTHER blog! So, I think that I will try to do this every Monday for now on :)


1. Have you (only you..not a group) ever won first place in anything? Oh, let's see. In high school, 10th grade I think exactly, I won first place in the science fair at school! It was on optical illusions... I didn't take it to the district level though because, well, my boyfriend (we dated all through my high school years) made me believe that I would never be able to get any farther.... I believed him and didn't enter because I didn't have to.... Something to ponder I guess...

2. Are your toes always painted (sorry guys...this question for girls only)? Oh no, almost never painted actually. I have horrible nails, almost non-existent.

3. What color eyes do you have? a very beautiful blue. Both of my girls inherited them from me :)

4. Look to your left....what do you see? A blue wall with a calendar, a few inspirational hangings and paperwork.... (My computer is right up to the left wall of the studio!)

5. Soft cookies or crunchy cookies? SOFT! Love them right out of the oven the best..... Crunchy makes my teeth hurt sometimes, lol.
